Dear Parents,
Vision Academy Charter School is happy to announce the launch of "Beyond the Bell," an extended learning program designed to address challenges in meeting growth and state proficiency targets. Funded by the Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) Cohort 12 grant, this program offers after-school and summer sessions focused on academic enrichment and extracurricular activities.
The after-school portion of the program is tentatively scheduled to run from September 16 to May 30, Monday through Thursday, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m., and Fridays from 1:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. Fridays will focus exclusively on sports, including league and club teams for younger students.
On Mondays through Thursdays, snacks will be provided starting at 3:30 p.m., and students will transition from the cafeteria to their classrooms at 3:45 p.m. Direct instruction will begin promptly at 4:00 p.m., with clean-up and dismissal from 5:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.
The program will offer a variety of activities, including Math, ELA, STEAM, Sports, SEL, character-building activities, and Clubs, ensuring a diverse and engaging experience for all participants.
Attendance and consistency are critical to the "Beyond the Bell" program's success. Students enrolled in this program are expected to attend every day, Monday through Thursday, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m., and Fridays from 1:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. A personalized schedule for each student will be provided at the end of the enrollment period.
The program emphasizes the importance of consistent attendance, directly linked to student success. Students who miss more than two days without an excuse will meet with mentors, and continued absences will involve meetings with the program director and parents. Poor attendance may result in losing privileges, such as participation in sports, while consistent attendance will be rewarded with recognition and in-school rewards. The program encourages student responsibility and parental involvement to ensure regular participation.
Registration Deadline: September 6 at 6 p.m.
